5 Easy Ways to Improve Your Body and reach Your Inner Peace…

"If anything is sacred, the human body is sacred."

Walt Whitman

Dear Friend,

…When you look outside your body and you lose connection to it, you increase the feeling of uncertainty, and so become insecure and fearful. From time to time it is good to check if you have lost that connection, when you feel the worry.

When you accumulate energies of fear and tension, it gets stuck in your physical body, so when you hear people have anxiety attacks especially night times, it happens because the body gets relaxed and all those harmful energies come to surface as the body tries to release them.

When you take care of your body daily, it will be your best ally and support you in any stressful situation. You can train to let go of the negative and harmful energies. Be present in your body, feel everything you can. Feel the breath, the energy which flows through you, the life within you. Take care of it by looking after it. Move it, feed it well, nurture it, don’t overfeed it, don’t over stimulate with artificial stimulants like coffee, alcohol, drugs. Practice yoga, sailing, rock climbing, find fun with dance, any sport or other activities that make you feel good and happy…There are many ways how to get your body relaxed, strong and healthy.

Be patient with your body and learn to love it whatever shape or size it is. Accept it as good enough and live in it, it will give you comfort, joy and happiness back… Body is flexible and by looking after it, even if you are not happy with its shape, you are able to change; the change begins with acceptance and love.

… When you look in the mirror and are unhappy with what your body looks like it is an indication of hate. The first step my friend is to accept your body. I know it can be hard and ego will fight against it, because it loves pain, criticism, hatred, fear. You can rise above all these negative thoughts by opening your heart for LOVE and ACCEPTANCE. I can only guide you here, but you have to be willing to do it when you want to make CHANGE. Whatever shape or size your body is you have to recognize, love and appreciate AS IT IS NOW, before any change can happen.

Here are 5 WAYS towards YOUR Ideal Body:

#1 Diets don’t work. I know the "diet industry" could lose a lot of income and become mad at me just reading this… :) However stop looking for a new diet for a moment. It is important to know what you shouldn't eat. There are many diets, which don't give you all the nourishment your body needs. Diets don't last, most of the time people gain weight back and even more than they lost. They make you feel frustrated and unworthy. Listen to your body, tune in with it and respect it with a LOVING HEART. The key is to get your body nourished with simple and healthy foods and beverages, so it can function and serve you well. Be mindful and choose wisely. When you feel secure and loved, you will also be less tempted for the comfort food, I don't know better diet than that. Also one of the greatest diet is to fall in love with someone or something, it works every time for me. The cases when diets work are rare and depend on the other steps I'm sharing with you next.

"To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear."

Buddha

#2 Mental preparation. If you are fed up with being sluggish, overweight or physically weak, you have to mentally prepare yourself for CHANGE. It all starts with a mental picture of what your current appearance is and what would be your ideal look, and do not compare yourself with others my friend. We all are different, what works for one may not work for you. Without this "ideal mental image" in your mind would be hard to keep up with the new habits you would need to establish on your way to your ideal body. The biggest mistake I've seen people make, is when they skip the mental preparation. When you don't have the big WHY and strong desires to have your body in the best condition, you will give up too soon. This is very important to give at least 6 months for change to be seen. When athletes prepare themselves for the Olympic games, one of the greatest challenges is MENTAL PREPARATION and you my friend deserve to be mentally prepared for SUCCESS.

#3 Inner dialog. This is crucial. Watch yourself closely what you say to yourself. Every unloving comment about your body shape or look will let you down. Also notice what you say to others about how you look. It is OK when you are critical as long as you can hear yourself and be aware, you can only change your inner dialog when you notice what and how you think and words you say to yourself. When you  switch from negative thoughts and words to positive, loving, encouraging and so begin to praise your body, you will see how it will pay you back, in return. I think it is impossible to expect health and ideal body when at the same time we are having negative, poisonous and destructive thoughts. Make your mind beautiful, so the body can follow.

#4 Build solid relationship. It may sound funny. But this is how I look at it. I used to be very critical and still now can be, however the way I treat my body is as I would treat my closest friend. I can show tough love when it need be. Like when I have to exercise and feel lazy, or keeping away from fatty, sugary foods or alcohol. At the same time I so appreciate what it can give me. When you have the ideal relationship with your body, it will respond to you and reflect back. You can treat your body with great therapies, relaxation, lotions, swim, sun…the list is endless. Stop and think about what is your relationship with your body. Is it loving, nurturing, supportive, friendly, encouraging, positive? You will find insight and it's never too late to build a new fresh, loving, ideal and nurturing relationship. As soon as today.

#5 Allow the healing. How can you allow the healing? This is what people often miss. When we are ill, we are so focused on illness that we can’t get out. I strongly believe that an ill health is reflection of confused mind. When we disconnect ourselves from the healing flow of love from the universe, we get ill. It doesn’t happen in one day, but it is based on our thinking habits or patterns. So how do we disconnect from the healing energy? When we feel discouraged, unloved, selfish, unworthy in other words – negative, it will reflect in our body. Have you noticed how we can get ill, when under stress? There are many causes for illness and it is much deeper than what I can ever say in here, however POSITIVE THINKING is the key to allowing HEALING to happen. Focus your mind on HEALTH my friend and ignore illness. Health is Truth and illness is nothing more but a FALSE appearance. Train your mind to focus on the Truth.

"The human body is the best picture of the human soul."

Ludwig Wittgenstein

I really enjoyed all of this. I especially like the reminder that it’s not only okay, but it’s important, to love and appreciate my body as it is now and not wait until it gets to the size or shape I want it to be. Thank you!

Solvita Bennett November 19, 2011

It is indeed important, the more you are able to judge your body, the more your body will stay the same… the confirmation is as steel it affirms what you see and delivers more of what is, the first step is to accept what ever is, to be able to make a change…Thank you Jandi for stopping by!

Thanks! I think women are particularly prone to judgement and deprivation regarding our own bodies. These tips are very helpful in acknowledging that self-talk and changing it.

Reply

Solvita Bennett November 19, 2011

Yes Lorrie … these days not only women but also men are brainwashed by media on what “we should look like” … we have to learn to see through all that B.S. which are amended and perfected (Photoshopped) images, so we are able to accept the body as unique and beautiful as it is…

Sherie Venner November 16, 2011

Solvita, I love that you start with accepting your body….so many of us don’t start there and think that we can “whip” ourselves into shape…..the tips are excellent ….thank you!!!

Reply

Solvita Bennett November 19, 2011

This is important to acknowledge where we are as a starting point, or we will become delusional and never achieve the result we are looking for :) …Thanks Sherie for your comment!

Hi Solvita, my body is SCREAMING at me to take care of it. I need to listen! I also agree with you that diets don’t work. You have to make a conscious life style change – only then will you have a chance of succeeding if you want to lose weight, right?

Reply

Solvita Bennett November 19, 2011

This is right my friend Julie! When you are able to make that conscious decision, it is the FIRST step to your success… and please go an give your body a little bit of that pampering it cries for, you will see how much it will love you for that! :)

Mental preparation and healing are huge components in taking care of ourselves. What we say to ourselves is so very important. Thanks for all you do to help others, you kindness is very evident in your words.

Reply

Solvita Bennett November 19, 2011

Thank you Anita! … I believe that if there is something that I have to say, there are also people who have to hear it and benefit from it… my words come from me but not really, I just transmit them… sometimes I read my own articles and think where this all came from?… which is a proof that we are so much more than we think we are :)

In hot yoga, one of the hardest practices of all is looking at yourself in the mirror, meeting your gaze and accepting the beauty of your body – how it moves, works and supports you. It’s a beautiful to appreciate that your body IS your vehicle and to it allows you to be here in this life.

Reply

Solvita Bennett November 19, 2011
