Dear Friend,

… We all are faced with perfect body images in the media. There is no problem with looking at them, as long as we don’t convince ourselves in accepting them as real.

The body image plays an important role in the way we feel about ourselves and self-esteem is affected if we are not happy the way we look. So how can we make it Supreme, that it supports us rather than limits us from feeling the best we can? It can be the biggest obstacle in the lives of so many. Amazingly often the most beautiful people can find themselves being too self critical about the way they look.

…Body image or the way we think we look is crucial and affects not only the way we feel, but also the way we act, interact, and it restricts us from expressing our true nature…

So today I’m going to write about the ways we can develop a supreme body image and so break free from all the chains that restrict us from expressing our true being and gain our self-esteem, confidence, power, inner peace and happiness we all deserve.

Now let’s look at 3 Keys that will help you to develop a Supreme Body Image.

3 Keys to Develop Supreme Body Image:

Key#1 The reflection in the Mirror and YOU.

When we look in the mirror and are not happy with what we see, we influence our mood and the state of mind. Rather than looking in the mirror with a critical or judgmental attitude, we have to look with appreciation. So how can we do it?

The biggest mistake people make is when they look at body based only on appearance. The art is to look beyond appearances and start learning to appreciate it for what it gives you. The functionality, the abilities and the comfort it can provide. At times when we find it hard to appreciate what our body can give to us, we can remind ourselves that there are many people, who may not have the ability to see, hear, the ability to walk or to speak.

So when we look in the mirror with an awe of appreciation for what our physical form or body can give us, we can then with time develop an amazingly healthy body image.

The Affirmation: I love the way I look.

Key #2 The Self-esteem and appearance.

The best way to achieve a Supreme Body Image is by changing the focus on appearances, and replace it with focusing on feelings, experiences, emotions, and passions. You will love your Body Image, when your main focus will be based on how you feel, what you do, how you do it rather than how you look. It will give you an amazing freedom my friend.

… This is what you could do. You could see if you can do something NEW. Even better, if you could do something that you thought you were not able to do. You could learn something new. For example a new language, try new recipe, travel to a new place… So in this way you will build your self-esteem and so your self-image would be based more on how you feel, what you experience rather than how you look. … Based on your abilities, the importance of what you do, functionality, the interaction with other people, environment. This new focus will make you enjoy your body and so make you love yourself for who you are, what you do and experience rather than how you look.

The Affirmation: My body is well and I am well.

Key #3 The mood and body image.

This is a two way street. When we are in a good mood and feel at the top of the world, we also feel great about the way we look. It can be the other way around. We can look in the mirror, hate what we see and based on our looks feel down.

However the most important way to stop our body image influence our mood, is to minimize the issues we believe we have. What normally happens is, that we actually dramatize our issues, so let’s say we have a spot on the nose, we make it a catastrophe and our mind gets so wind up with this such a little issue and so changes our mood, which in return influences not only us individually, but also other people we interact with.

The art is not to make these issues bigger and again as in the Key #1 I mentioned direct your focus on functionality rather than appearance and do what ever it takes to get yourself in a good mood. When we are in a good mood, we also feel much better in our own skin. :)

The Affirmation: I feel good and I look good.

Of course we like to look the best we can and we can look the best we can.

…When we appreciate ourselves for who we really are, what we do we also radiate from us a positive aura and so our appearance improves too. The biggest mistake we all make, when we base our self-esteem on our appearance rather than our being.

The value of who you really are is so much greater than you can even comprehend with your mind my friend. Let shine that amazing part of your being through whatever appearance you have and you will see how Supreme your Body Image becomes.

Nothing can be more damaging than neglecting, negative, unloving thoughts radiating from your mind and directed towards your temple, which is your body. This can only create suffering to the point of losing health.

When you will be no longer influenced based on your looks, you will be able to experience yourself on a much higher level. You will realize that you are so much more, you are so much more important; you will be able to find joy, inner peace and as a result love your reflection in the mirror every time no matter what.

Once we change the way we perceive ourselves, the way others perceive us will change too and with the tips I just gave you – to the BEST.

 Let’s do this together.

Now is your turn, please share your thoughts, concerns or stories in the comment section below. I’d love to hear from you. :)

Thanks for sharing your wisdom:)

Thank you Anita. It is so easy to slip back, as our old habits are so much stronger than the new ones. It takes a lot of strength to build a new one 😉 I am sure you can do it! When you feel good, you look good, and so you can create a space for your body to become healthier, more vibrant and responsive to changes.

It seems most women suffer from this kind of thinking. It’s something we all have to work on daily.

Solvita Bennett April 15, 2012

Hi Denise, women are suffering most as they are being criticized about their appearances so much more often than men in media, school, by pears and the list is endless… There are many super skinny girls starving themselves to death by being criticized daily, not only by others but more so by themselves. It is not helping and it is not the truth. When we know the truth, nobody can influence our self-esteem and we can create a Supreme Body Image. :)

Thank you for the beautiful affirmations, Solvita. This is a really big issue for me and I have experienced what you relate about mood being influenced by what you see in the mirror. Your affirmations will get put to good use here while I continue to work toward getting the image in the mirror down to the size I want it to be. :)

Thank you Lena! Absolutely, when we appreciate our body, it responds to us so much better. You can do a lot of exercises or diets, but if you don’t love it, the results will be hard to achieve or ever see. It all starts with complete acceptance, love and appreciation.

Few of us succeed on our first try, so don’t be afraid of the word “try.” In rugby a “try” is about adding points. Know that whatever your intent is, you are going to keep “trying”–you are going to stay on the field and keep kicking that metaphoric ball until it sails right through those blessed uprights!

Great Post!

Terrific post Solvita! We tend to take our bodies for granted. Our bodies do much for us day in and day out and yet we can be so critical. Why is it that many of us only appreciate something after it’s been taken away. I love the 3 keys and the affirmations you offer for developing a supreme body image. After all, our cells are listening to everything we say and feel!

Reply

Solvita Bennett April 15, 2012

Our cells are listening, Maria Elena. This is why the why the body responds to our thoughts, beliefs so much. We can even think ourselves sick! How powerful is that? When we develop a supreme bod image, we also create a powerful and healthy self-esteem, this is such an amazing achievement. When we can move through life as we are meant to move ~ with courage and joy, we also can fulfill our destiny and be happy. Thank you!

One of the things I do, is to say “I Love You” in the mirror to myself..Rather than comparing ourselves to each other, just celebrate yourself as you are.

Reply

Solvita Bennett April 15, 2012

This is an amazing affirmation, when we can look at our reflection, say that and also feel great and not ashamed, guilty or inadequate, we would not have any problems with having an amazing body image. I wish everybody on this planet would be able to do this. Thank you Mari-Lyn for your kind comment. :)

Love what you say here Solvita: “When you will be no longer influenced based on your looks, you will be able to experience yourself on a much higher level” When we really can love ourselves for who we truly are inside, we will have a new sense of confidence and being that draws others to us! Great article!
